Making Stacy Happy

I just don't know what is wrong with me and my lack of blogging skills lately, I seriously need to get with the program if not just for the simple reason that I'm sick of getting comments from Stacy about the lack of blogging going on. So here I am, dropping everything else just to update to make her happy. Well, I hope you are satisfied.

The kids and I went to Boise for Spring Break this March to see Sean's mom. It was great, we saw movies, went golfing, and just did whatever we wanted to do. I need to be a permanent vacation. Someday.

Jared Wrecked my mom's Cadillac, and is going to make a necklace out of the Cadillac symbol off the front. Ya, that whole experience has been fun.

My sisters and I went to the Woodburn Tulip Festival with all the little kids. It was great. My kids stayed home for things like school, track, and the ever important, Weight lifting.

Not that much real crazy stuff has been going on with us lately, but it is getting close to summer, and you never know what can happen next.

Oh, and one last thing. Captain Freedom now lives in the house, but he hasn't done anything "super" yet. Will keep you posted.

I Phones Rock!

OK, so I just loaded a I Phone blogging app, oh Stacy, you should be so proud. So now I will be able to keep this up to date a little better than usual. But here is the crazy thing about this app, I was ready about it, and the person who wrote the discrition was not an English speaking person. I hope it works because the broken English discription of it was a little sketchy. Oh well, here is to making my life easier.

3 Strikes, And I Take Your Keys Away!

A lot of people have asked me what is up with Sean and the cars all of a sudden? I have tried to keep my comments to myself, so as not to jinx myself (knock on wood right now), but I got my Suburban back yesterday after a 2 month repair, so now I am ready to share Sean's streak of car bad luck with you all:

Strike 1:

Maybe we can overlook this one, after all a bullet is not real uncommon in a war zone. But this did start it all, the infamous "bullet through the windshield" in Iraq, and we received this picture via e-mail with a title of "Woo, that was a close one". Luckily the military has their own insurance to cover such mishaps.

Strike 2:

4 days after his triumphant return from the lovely spa like desert of Iraq, we traveled to Bend to watch Jared break a finger and get a concussion, yet keep playing a fab game of football. On our way home at 11:00PM, in the middle of nowhere, I might add, Sean strikes a huge Elk going 60 miles an hour. Luckily again for him others were driving home also from the game, so we just abandon the car there, and went back for it the next day. I almost cried leaving my most favorite car I ever owned on the side of the road. Sigh.

Strike 3:

Well this is the last of Sean leaving his mark on a car. With our fleet dwindling, he borrowed his Grandfather's truck to go to Portland, and on his way hit a deer in Rice Hill. Oh the humanity. The good news is that there was no were no humans injured in any of these accidents, but for all of you animal lovers out there, sorry.

We are hoping that the theory of bad things come in 3's holds true, my mom says that all the time, and by my experiences as a mom now I know that moms are always right. Isn't that true Jared.

Bad Blogger!

So, Stacy has given me the gentle hints that I am not a very good blogger. I will try and work on that. Sorry! Well, here is the latest updates... football is over, and we can get on with our lives for now. Jared had a great season, and has proven himself to be a real hard worker. And Monte lives up to his nickname "The Monster", it only gets bigger from here. Jared has only been done for a week now, so he is trying to decide what to do with all his extra time. He is still in the weight room every day after school, but that only uses up an hour after school. He has taken to teasing Maile until she screams. Kill me now! The driving range would be a great alternative. Monte on the other hand went strait from football to basketball, and is doing great. I'm just glad that I don't have to do all the running, and can just watch. Sean is home from Iraq, and has put 2 cars in the body shop. My Suburban by way of an elk, and his Grandfather's truck, a deer. We are glad to have him home?? I on the other hand am either blocking out what I have been doing on a daily basis, or just forgetting. I don't know which one. All I know is I drive a lot, and my mom's Cadillac (which I am glad that she is letting me borrow) is about a quarter of the size of my Suburban, but only one more day until I get it back. So anyway, there you go . I will try and pull myself together and keep this up to date for everyone. I promise with fingers crossed behind my back.

Smelling Like Camp Fire

This past 2 weeks have been a downer, but I have the feeling that things are going to be looking up soon. Or at least they better. First of all Jared's team has lost 2 in a row, brought down by Pirates from the north (Phoenix), and Pirates from the west (Marshfield). Jared had well played games though, even if his team couldn't quite pull it together. Don't worry boys, things will be looking up this week, that long drive to Eugene will give everyone some time to think. Monte on the other hand had a fabulous game against Scenic last Tuesday, with so many tackles that the coach had to pull him off of defence in the 4th quarter due to the 44 to 8 lead that we had over them. Both of the boys are playing so well, on both the offensive and defensive lines, getting lots of playing time. Monte takes to the field again against Eagle Point today, hopefully they will do well. Good Luck! In other news, we had a huge wild fire here racing up the hill towards my Grandpa's, and Aunt's houses. They fire came within feet of them, but they fire fighters were able to keep a good fire line around them. Grandpa had a terrific view from my parent's front yard, it was as good a view as you could get, and the helicopters and the fire crews were right next to us out in our field. There was also a fire that broke out in Medford shortly after the one in Ashland, and we got a ton of ash dropped on us at work, as well as a great view of that on also. Both the fires have calmed now, but it was to close for comfort for our family. Now we have smoke, and everything in Ashland smells like camp fire, and probably will for a couple more days.

First Game

Jared had his regular season opener against Henley on Friday. They took the Hornets down 22 to 19. Sean got to listen to the whole game on line in Iraq, isn't technology amazing! The saga of the numbers was also solved as a tall lean number 60 ran on the field that resembled Jared. Finally after 3 number changes this year, I think he is going to stick with this one. One more week until Monte has his first game, but tune in this next Friday for the update after the Grizz take on the Phoenix Pirates.

Football Season Begins

Jared has officially kicked off his football season with the traditional red and white scrimmage where Jared debuted his new number.He would not tell us what his new number was after he got moved to the O-line, and we are still not sure if the one he wore tonight is the real number, we will see next Friday in the season opener against Henley. Anyway, he played great, and had an even better time. Monte also kicked off his water boy season, and is looking forward to dressing down in the pads next week when his own football season starts. Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice, or I at home, whatever you prefer, the trailer has been coming along nicely. I can't wait to have it done soon! We updated the Gorgeous Georges blog with new pictures of all the trailer work. Well, the world is now safe, so until next time... see you all on Friday night under the lights! Wake Surfing and Girls Trip

We have just returned from the annual Girls Trip in our trailers. It is our week long trip with the girls and kids only, even though most of our trips end up that way, this is the one we plan for all year. We all had a blast, it was great. Jared wants this year to be his last, he is done with the whole hanging out with my Aunts and little cousins thing, even though he had fun this year. There is a poll to vote for Jared on the Gorgeous Georges Blog, and Jared begs that everyone vote, and would thank you for your support, or for another year of the Girls Trip. Sorry Jared, it could go either way buddy. Anyway, this year we started in Newport, and ended in Astoria. It was so much fun, can't wait for next year. Our other more Jared friendly activity this summer has been wake surfing, it is a blast, and hope to get much more trailering, and wake surfing in the rest of this summer!

The Hero Returns

So, Jared is home from Japan tonight. He is tired, and has never had such a good time. He can't stop talking about everything that he say, and places that he went to. This was such a great trip for the whole team, what a great experience for all. He can't really pick out a favorite part of the trip, he just loved the whole thing. They got to go to Kyoto, the Japanese TV studios, to a huge festival in Osaka, the Japanese Universal Studios, and Hiroshima. He loved the family that he stayed with, they were so great, and kind to Jared and Haeden. We can never thank them enough. But now the moment that everyone has been waiting for... pictures

First Game of the Season

Jared has officially kicked off his 2009 football season with his first game played in Osaka Japan. It seems that the might of an all senior all star team pulled from several high schools in Japan is to much for the junior dominated team that Ashland put on the field. The final score was 20 to 0. But despite the score the boys have had the time of their lives, and an experience that they would not trade for anything. Jared will be home tomorrow, and I can't wait to see all of his pictures and to hear all about the trip and his experiences. I will report back as soon as he gets home, but in the mean time here are some more pictures via one of the mothers that made the trip with the boys.

The Latest

The past couple of weeks have been crazy. I just got back from Girls Camp, and no Daisha, it's a bummer, but the showers don't shock any more, but can you believe that they let me come back as a leader? WOW is all I can say. This is my 4th year at camp here, and each year it just keeps getting better. I enjoy being up there with the girls so much.This is Heather's last year at camp, so it was extra special. Our Theme was Believer's Boot Camp, so we had a military theme going on, and Heather decorated her JC shirt just like Sean's uniform, it looked great! While I was gone, Monte spent his time toning up at the Y, getting ready for football, and hanging with his little buddy, Cousin Kai. He was very good, but I am going to miss him when he leaves for Scout Camp in the morning, I am going to be sad, but he is really excited to go and do his own thing.

So now for the news everyone has been waiting for, Jared in Japan. It is going great, they are having so much fun. He called yesterday, and said it was great. They play their game at 2:00AM Saturday our time, but Sunday afternoon for them. We are getting lots of updates on the team facebook page, along with tons of pictures, so thanks to the moms who went, I can post some pictures of Jared for everyone to see. The one of The boys at the BBQ is very interesting, check out the tables that they sit at, they all have their own little grills on them so that they can cook their own meat. It is so cool, I wish that I could have gone. Oh well, next time when Monte goes. My mom wants to go to, so we are going to start saving our money for it.

Catching UP

There has not been much time spent at home the last couple of weeks, there is always something to do. The boys and I have learned how to use our time well, that is for sure. Jared has been in full swing football for a while now, and we are now on a 6 day countdown until he goes to Japan. The closer it gets, the more sad I am that I'm not going with him. He loves having practice every day, and enjoys the camaraderie on the team. Monte has been trying to keep himself busy during the day by running and lifting with his friend Craig. The boys and I brought in hay for a Doctor in town, it was a couple of late nights, and lots of tissues on mine and Monte's part, but we got it done.

The 4th of July was fun as usual. You can't miss on the 4th in Ashland, it always promises to be a unique experience. We did miss Sean though, and hope the sand storms in Iraq were not to bad that day. Sean's Birthday was on the 7th, and we missed him then also. But we miss him every day. Monte spent to whole of last week on the houseboat on Shasta with the rest of my family, he had a blast. Jared and I went after his practice on Friday afternoon. The weather was great, and the water was so nice. I am beginning to think that we are suffering from an overly crammed summer, but at least the boys are having fun. Monte gets to take a break from being drug around while Jared is in Japan, and I am at girl's camp next week. He will get lots of Grandma time. I totally failed at trying to keep this thing updated this summer, so I figured I would shoot for at least once to twice a week. We will see how it goes.

Jared is 16 today, I can hardly believe it. He is growing up fast. Now if he would only let me get a good picture of him. He is such a dork. He is a low key boy, so all he wants to do for his birthday is a round of golf (18 holes, how will I ever make it?) and he has an appointment at the Nike employee store next Friday. Whatever floats your boat buddy. Anyway, Happy Birthday!

Updates

Well, we ahve been busy! It is getting close to the end of the school year, and the boys are making sure that they have done all of their work. Football has started again for Jared, and he is so happy. Monte is close to the end of Spring Basketball with one more week to go. He is playing so well with this team, and loves his coach.He is going to be sad when it is all over, but he is ready to start football also. The boys and I have taken up golf, and have been playing every Monday evening for FHE. It is so much fun, but we are so bad, we seriously need lessons. Tonight we went to play, and right when we were starting a huge rain cloud just unloaded right over the top of us, and the thunder rolled. Seriously these rain drops were the biggest that I had ever seen, and it just poured on us. by the time we all put our ball in the first hole we were dripping wet, the water was running into my eyes. Jared kept saying that he was hard core, and wanted go on, but Monte and I were finished and followed all the other people back into the club house. My t-shirt was soaked through and the boys wanted to go shopping for Sean's Father's Day gift, needless to say I was not thrilled at that idea, so Jared gave up his sweatshirt for me. What a nice boy. Next week will be better, we are having Aunt Summer and Uncle Ricky join our fun, sweet!!!

Stuff

We have had lots going on this past week and a half. First of all, Jared hit a huge home run! Not just over the baseball fence, but over into the softball field behind the baseball field. Nobody was there from our family to see it either, so he thinks we are all bad luck. Whatever, moms can only be good luck. But now the season is over, and the rain held out until the last day. On to football, and counting down the days until Japan.Monte and I had a great trip to Boise. We got to see all the sights that Monte wanted to see including the "Blue Turf", and every Bronco store that there is. But we also saw the other things too, and the drive over way great! And can I just just say that I am converted to golf now, we had fun!!
Sean made it to Iraq, and is suffering in the heat. We miss him, but he will be back before we know it. He is trying to send pictures so that I can post them on the blog, so hopefully soon we will be getting updates from Sean too.

Yes I'm a Slacker

I have been so busy that I have not had time to update anything, but now that Sean is gone to Iraq I will make a better effort to update more often so he can see what the kids are up to.

First of all, the auction is over!!! I am soooo happy. It was a huge success, and a lot of fun, but also a ton of work. 4 Years until the next one.

Jared has won 6 games in a row! He is doing great, and in the first game of his double header with Roseburg yesterday, he had a great double that brought in 3 runs to win the game. He will have a busy week this week, one of the other catchers is sick, and the other one is out with bad grades, so starting with yesterday's double header, he will catch 7 games this week. WOW. He better eat lots of bananas.

Monte has had a little break from basketball, and is back at it with a team from Medford. No games to report on yet, but coming soon.

Sean's Grandparents celebrated their 60th anniversary this past weekend in Eugene, so we all went to that, and had a lot of fun catching up with all of Sean's family. And Sean even got to come down from Portland for the weekend before he flew out Tuesday, so we could see him one more time. It was great. We got to see Oregon play a couple of innings with Washington, and The whole family showed their green and yellow pride when we stormed the Oregon store in search of mew sweatshirts. We should have taken a picture of all the green that we wore the next day.

And last, but not least, Grandpa bought a blast from the past (remember the huge orange bean bag) only this one is brown. The kids have loved it so far, and the whole TV room has been adjusted to feature the latest addition.

Baseball Again?

Well, it is that time of year again, baseball season! Lucky number 7 has hit the field again, and this year he is busy. They don't have enough catchers for all 3 teams, so Jared is playing on two teams. He catches for one team Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then plays outfield for the other team Tuesdays, some Thursdays, and then catches one game and outfield another on Saturday double headers. Busy boy, but he loves it. So far it has been going well. The pen striped red and white lost a close one to the ominous Black and Blue Panthers last week 3 to 4, but Jared played well. But to make up for it the next day he got to take on another Panther team only playing with the other team, and they took them down with a commanding 5 to 0 win. This week has started off well with a win over the Black Tornado's, and a perfect game behind the plate for him. Then last night the team couldn't quite handle the Eagles, but Jared had 2 beautiful hits, one hit the center field fence, and another perfect game behind the plate.

First Trailer Trip of 2009

Tome and I broke out the trailers this past weekend to kick off spring break. We just did a short trip for the weekend to Bandon. The Queen Bee is not done yet, so I borrowed the Pink Lady from Tori. It only rained the first night, and the good news is that we found all of Tori's leaks for her, the bad news is that the leak happened to be right on top of my I phone, so needless to say it was a expensive trip. Oh well, that is what makes life interesting. Ty and Tori meet us there for a day, and we all had a blast going to the beach, petting zoo, and a huge garden. Can't wait for the next trip (after the leaks are fixed of course).

Any holiday with the George family is chaotic, and this St. Patrick's day was no different. Grandma threw a party, that had all green food, cool! We played duck, duck, goose, and basketball. It was good clean fun for all, accept for the Kai the cake thief.

Thanks to Sean's Grandparents, we had tickets to the Oregon, Oregon State game last Sunday. What a blast. The kids had loads of fun, and the game was great. We enjoyed the family outing, and are grateful for such a fun gift!

It is that time of year again, mine and Sean's anniversary, and it's no surprise to those that have known us for a while that Sean is deployed again. I can count on one hand how many anniversaries we have spent together over the last 14 years. But I can't complain, last year we actually took a vacation to Hawaii to celebrate, and that is the only time we have actually celebrated it. I love it, it has made our anniversaries very unique and memorable remembering all the places that Sean has been on our anniversary, and all the things that the kids and I have done while he was gone. Sean is not very good about taking pictures of himself while he is deployed, but I did find a few. So here is a tribute to all 14 anniversaries, only 4 of which were spent together. Sean, I hope you get to read this. Happy anniversary, love ya.

Monte's 12th Birthday

We celebrated Monte's 12th Birthday on January 30th with a huge Wii night and 2 big screens. All the boys had a blast. There was lots of pizza, and fun. Monte has decided that he wants to take up golf, so he got golf clubs from us, and all the accessories to go along with it from everyone else. All the boys stayed up so late, and played a horrible basketball game the next day, but whatever, it was fun.

Christmas Vacation

This Christmas was great for our family, we had very few gifts to open, but surprised the kids with a trip to Hawaii! After the paper ripping rush of Christmas morning was over, the boys headed outside for a George Christmas day tradition of doing something crazy, and made up "Ryno Boarding". They pulled each other behind the Ryno on a boogie board. Of course it was Ty and Torr's idea, who else. But they all had a great time doing it.

A couple of days after Christmas we headed for Hawaii. We stayed at Bellows Air Force Station while we were there in a beach front cottage, it was so nice. We spent New Year's Eve at the PPC, days at the beach, and nights shopping in Waikiki. It was so relaxing. I recommend it for every one's Christmas from now on.

More Togetherness

This weekend we went to Phoenix for Sterling's graduation from Embrey Riddle. First of all, congrats to Sterling, you made it through. It was fun spending some time with Sean's family, we don't get to do that kind of stuff with them all that often. We had a great time, enjoying what is cold weather for native Arizonians, but warm for us. We left snow, and came home to it. Monte loved the desert, and all the cactus, and Jared is one more stadium closer to visiting all the baseball stadiums in the MLB. It was just a quick trip, but totally worth it.

December, Oh, Family Togetherness

I told Sean that as a family we have not seen that much of each other, so December is our month of family togetherness! Ya, Sean is sooo excited (sarcasm). So we kicked it off with the day after Thanksgiving tree lighting down town Ashland. At least Maile and Kai got to see the parade on top of Jared and Uncle Sean. And for all of my other friends who got snubbed by waving at me, it wasn't me, it was Summer, and so is the person in this picture.

The boys have started scuba lessons, so that means every Tuesday and Thursday nights, yes together for three weeks at scuba lessons. The boys are having a blast. Monte swims around the bottom of the pool as fast as he does everything else in his life (walking, talking, eating, etc.). And Jared is a diving prodigy, with everything done just perfect.

Sean's most favorite part was yet to come, we all went to his guard weekend with him. He was so excited I can't even tell you how excited he was. But we did have fun. The boys got to swim in the pool at the hotel, and we got some Christmas shopping done.

We will keep you all up to date with the rest of the events that we have coming up, there are quite a few, and it looks to be an interesting month.

True Duck Fans

Sean, Jared,Torr, and Dad went to the Oregon, Stanford game, and got soaked in the rain. But they loved it, and said that it was worth every minute of sitting on the 50 yard line. A big thanks to Pat at T.P. for the tickets, they had a blast!

After the disappointment of the ending of football season, Sean thought that it might make Jared feel better to go hunting. Well it did, and he got his very first deer! Good job Jared, your dad is so proud, and your mom... well that's just so great!

Every year Jared picks what he wants to be for Halloween using a different costume, but the same afro. This year was no different. Don't you love the short shorts!

More Time On My Hands

Well, it has been fun, but football has come to an end. First Jared, Friday night was a great night for the Grizz, and Jared had his best week ever! They took down the Eagles with a 48-13 win, but ended up with the short end of the stick loosing the coin toss that broke the 3 way tie for the state play offs. That is a hard way to loose it for sure. Next year they take no prisoners.

Then there is Monte. His team didn't expect to do well, but did. They had a bummer of a loss with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, but overall were pleased with the way they played, oh well, on to the next thing, Monte is always off and running.

They Do Have Faces!

This has been the most exciting week of sports for me, I finally got pictures of faces! All of the kids have been doing well, and this week we used a lot of Shout in the laundry to get the whites clean. The mud was horrible this past week. Jared has had some great games, he is just not the same kid on the football field this year, he has really come alive. Heather is the slide tackling queen, and only got called on it twice in Saturday. And Monte is well, you know "The Monster" on the field, he is playing great as usual. Jared and Heather head into Conference play this week, so all their games start counting from now on. I'll let you know how it all goes. And Monte's team looks like it is going to head to the play offs in a couple of weeks with a 5 win, 1 loss record so far. That great for having no QB. The rain is going to hit again this weekend for all the games of coarse, I guess I better get some more Shout.

This Is All We Ever Do!!

This past couple of weeks, all we have been doing is going to practices, and game. And on top of it I have been a slacker on updating everyone about them. Well, all the games are a blur right now, so sorry, I will try harder from now on. But one thing I have noticed is that with sports pictures, all I get is the backside of the kids, so here are some great pictures from behind of them, and I will try and get better ones as the season goes on. They are all doing really well. Jared is not the same kid that we have been watching all these years, he is leading the JV team in sacks, and tackles. Wow, amazing. Monte is his usual self on the field, "The Monster", striking fear into all other kids his age. But not as many have cried this year, they all must be getting older. Heather is trying some different positions this year, and has been able to play up front, and even scored a goal. In other news, we had Sean's mom here fro a couple of days. It was great fun! Lots of shopping, and games. She probably needs a vacation from her vacation. Well, that's about it. I will try to do better this week at the updates.

Friday Night Football

Jared and the rest of the Grizzlies started off their season with a bang. They played Henley in a pre-season match up, and came out on top with a 28-21 win. They played an OK game until the 4th quarter, then they started playing like the Grizz that we all know and love. Monte made his debut as the varsity water boy, and just a note to everyone who dares to brave an evening in Klamath Falls, don't forget your mosquito repellent! The mosquito's were out in mad swarms, and attacked every piece of flesh that they could find. As far as Heather went on Saturday, after scoring on her own goal, and twisting her ankle, she doesn't want to talk about it. Better luck on Thursday Heather. As far as our Football schedule goes this week, Jared will get to play 2 quarters in the JV game in Phoenix on Thursday, and then on Friday the Varsity plays Phoenix at home. Monte will have his season opener on Saturday, against GP, somewhere in Grants Pass, we don't know yet. Football and Fall

Well it is the start of football season! It has been officially kicked off, so to speak. And even though it is still August, we only had a few days of summer this year it feels like, and it is starting to cool off to jacket weather at night. Anyway, Jared started off the season with the annual red and white scrimmage on Saturday evening. And I know I am late putting this on the blog, and the only reason I am rushing to do it now is because his first game is tonight. The mighty Grizzlies (or not so mighty, we will see how the mostly sophomore team does) take on the Henley Hornets in Klamath for a non conference season opener. We will let you know how it goes. And as for Monte, or "The Monster", he had his opening season Jamboree on Sunday, and did well considering there were no subs, and they all played iron man football. Monte is a strong kid, and even though we did not keep score, the little Grizz came out on top of Grants Pass. Monte kicks off his season officially next Saturday in Rogue River. Heather starts her soccer season off with a bang today at Phoenix at 1:00 also. It looks to be a busy day! Who is that studly number 19? 72 pushing through the block.

The air conditioning went out in the upstairs of the house this last week, and it made sleeping impossible. So our little family trudged out to the Abel trailer to get some relief from the heat. It was great! Thank you Bonnie! When the boys and I left for football practice at 6:45AM, we spotted the resident beaver that lives at the lake. It was huge!! Not kidding. We are trying to come up with a name for it, we are toying with Fattty Beav, but any suggestions would be welcome.

Things We Have Been Up To.

OK, so sorry I have been a slacker lately, but I have not been home at all. So to make up for it, here are a few pictures of things we have been up to the last couple of weeks:

Football is in full swing now for both of the boys, and to kick it off for Jared, the Ashland High hosted the annual Line Challenge. It is a competition of strength and power. Jared had a blast.

Then we did a quick trip to Brookings to see Sean's Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents. The weather was great, and we had a blast. It was great to see everyone.

Tome, Summer, and Monica finally got to sorting through the retro uniforms from the high school, and we had a lot of fun doing it.

We had an early surprise addition to the George Family. Tori had a baby boy almost 3 weeks early, and Ty was on a flight. That will be a story to remember. Ty got home when he was about 5 hours old, and they named him Brody. Congrats Ty and Tori!

Monica and Heather spent a week at Girl's Camp. There was sun, singing, swimming, no sleep, and a lot of fun. And we made it through!

The football team has started the fund raising for the team to go to Japan next summer. I am on the committee, so that means that fund raisers are family affairs. So we all worked the car wash.

And to top it all off, Sean was gone for most of the fun doing his Air Force duties, so we surprised him by picking him up in Portland.

Anyway, the Georgianna Family fun continues, and I promise to keep everyone updated, now that we will be home every night. Well almost.

Week By The Sea

This week Jared went to EFY in Forrest Grove, so we dropped him off, and Monte, Heather, and I went to Seaside and Astoria for the week. It was great weather, only about 65, and sunny. We did it all, from the Astoria Column, The Goonies House, Maritime Museum, Fort Stevens, the beach, carnival rides, and anything else you can imagine. It was great fun. Jared also had a great time at EFY, but we did miss him on our vacation until we picked him up, then we were glad he didn't go. Just kidding, not really.

The Ashland varsity team attended football camp in Gold Beach this last week. Jared said the experience was great fun, and loved doing it. He is already looking forward to the next time they go. There were 17 teams there from California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Monte is so jealous, and can't wait for his camp coming up in a couple of weeks.

With Sean and Jared off to football camp this week, and Heather gone to Utah, Monte and I have some quality time together, so we started off the week with scuba diving, it was great fun, and Monte did great. He perfected the one finger push-up in the deep end of the pool, and did the slow motion run, bouncing with every step. He caught on fast, and now it is one of his favorite hobbies. I could tell that he was trying, in try Monte fashion, to talk about the whole experience, but of course he couldn't talk, so he became very proficient with the hand motions.

Bonnie has a single wide trailer situated in the most beautiful spot on her property. Right where Gloria, and Rene had their house. It over looks the lake, and you can see the trees, and wildlife, and you really are isolated from the rest of the world out there. It is great.

I have recently started doing my laundry out there. It is actually relaxing to do laundry out there by myself. Just turn on a movie, and take a few things I need to get done. But since I work full time, the only time I have to do laundry is at night, and that creates a problem.

Before you get to the trailer, there is a gate, that you have to get out of the car and open, then close after you so the horses and cows don't get out. That's easy, right? Not really at 1:00 in the morning it's not. It freaks me out so bad to get out of the car and open that gate in the middle of the night, I'm always afraid of some "Indian Ghost", a cow, or even the ghost of Rene Bounds jumping out at me. And to make it even worse, there is a huge pipe that runs right under the gate, sending the water from Emigrant Lake to Abel lake, and it makes scary noises in the middle of the night. I have confessed my fears to Sean, and Greg, and they think I'm crazy, but Julee agrees with me. So I have decided that the best thing to do is jump out of the car real quick, run to the gate, run back to the car, drive trough the gate, run back, close it, then run back to the car again, shut the door, put the car in drive (which automatically locks the doors), and leave as fast as I can. One night after I calmed down a mouse ran across my dash, and I just floored it to get home as fast as I could. Uncle Pat told me that if I wrecked that would have been a hilarious claim. But anyway, if there are any suggestions on how to remedy the fears, please let me know.

Jared successfully passed his permit test yesterday! After the test, he drove me to his baseball game. I was trying hard not to be the annoying mom who bugs the kids about their driving all the time, but I realized after a few brake checks, and some jerky turns, that he does not know how to drive at all, so I have to teach him, dang it. But he did do a good job for his first time, actually very good. And as a reward for doing good, anyone who would like Jared to drive them around, just call. He will make sure your brakes work.

Another Year Of Little League Done!

Well another year of Little League is over and done with. Monte finished off an up and down season with a loss to the Cards. But despite the loss, Monte played well, and is back on a roll with his batting. After the game he said he was pleased with his game today, but only felt OK about his season as a whole. But I do have to say Monte is a good sport, and was very happy for his good friend Riley for getting a win ( the Cards haven't had very many). Congrats to Monte for a good season, we are looking forward to a better one next year.

He has been in a worse than usual "Sean" mood lately, and he has been refusing to cooperate with anything, but I caught he and Tanner coming back from lunch, and I snapped this after Tanner teased it out of Sean, and I convinced him that his Grandma needed a picture of them at work together. After all the trouble that they got into as kids (as cousins do, except for Daisha and I , we were angels), she needs to see them as adults, working hard, and not causing problems. But this will probably be the last you will see of Sean for a while, so I made it extra big so everyone could enjoy! Ha, ha, ha. Got ya!

Last night Monte had his 5th grade graduation, and it seems ironic that I was in the first 5th grade class to graduate from Bellview (before that it was a K-6 school), and now Monte is in the last to graduate from the old school. Yes the old Bellview is getting torn down to make way for a brand new Bellview opening in Sep 2009. The poor students left are being displaced for a year. But it was very sentimental looking around the school last night, it is going to be missed. Then the night of sentiments continued as the kids said their final good buys to their teacher Mr. Kitchell. It was hard enough watching a film of the football team brought to their knees 5 days after his death at the state semi finals weeping as teams around the state paid tribute to their coach, who was missing his first game in 25 years. They should have waited until after the game, the boys could never pull themselves together. But last night the 5th grade read a poem they had written about him. It was wonderful. So off with the old, and on with the new. Look out AMS here comes Monte!

Baseball Birthday

Jared has had a baseball game on his birthday for ever since he can remember, but there is nothing else he would rather do for his birthday than play ball! So the Ashland White pulled off a squeaker against the Phoenix team, and won at the last minute 10-9. Good game, and Jared hit a beauty, but it went foul. He caught a great game, and went all 7 again. In the mean while Monte and the Yankees got put down by the Rex Sox in Monday, but came back last night against the Cards, and won 9-6. Monte put down a beauty of a bunt, and played a nice clean game. Way to go Yanks!

Today Jared turns 15! Wow! His first big life milestone came when he passed up Aunt Summer, because she is the tallest of all the girls in our family, now he is working on his Uncles, and he is close at a tall skinny even six foot. We are in the home stretch of Little League, 2 more weeks, and then Monte will be done. This past week the Yankees couldn't hold the Giants at bay on Tuesday, an went down swingin 0-3. Then on Thursday, Monte was back at 3rd base, and ready for action, and took the Angelos team down 5-3. On the other side of the base, Ashland White, only played once this week, and Jared was great behind the plate, but Grants Pass Red had some heavy hitters, and won 6-3. Monte wraps up the week on Saturday afternoon against the Red Sox, and next week Jared will celebrate his 15th Birthday, with a game against Phoenix on Tuesday.

Ding Dong Prom Is Gone!

Wohoo, all the proms in the valley are over! I can take a break from my sewing machine. I had huge prom overload this year. My original designs made debuts at Ashland, North Medford, Rogue River, Crater, South Medford, and Phoenix. They ranged from sleek, rich chocolate brown dress, to orange sherbet, 50's style, all the way to a replica of Belle's yellow ball gown. I had overheard Kaylynn talking to Danielle about not having a dress yet, and I almost had a breakdown when I saw Kaylynn's number pop up on my cell phone the Saturday before Ashland's prom, and I have to admit that I almost didn't answer it, but then I had a moment of major guilt thinking that if I should do any one's dress this year it should be hers, she is after all family. But it turned out she only needed an alteration. Thank you Kaylynn! Wow, what a year, I'm glad it's a whole year before it comes around again, but then again wedding season is coming (and now the scary music plays).

This last week has been the craziest weather I have ever seen, and I'm not so sure I approve of Mother Nature's little joke on us. Last Thursday all of a sudden it went from 50 degrees to 100 degrees. And that kind of temperature change is horrible. We had almost intolerable heat at the games on Saturday, and Torr even came down with heat stroke catching at his game ( sorry I didn't tell you mom, but he is an adult). the weather was better on Sunday, and Monday being in the 80's. Then "Bam" it hit us again, just when we were starting to thaw out, I refroze on Tuesday night, and the last couple of days have been 50 again, along with rain. I guess I won't put the winter gear away yet. Lake of the Woods got more snow last night, and the lake is still frozen over. I'm beginning to wonder if the girls and I will be spending Girl's Camp in the snow! Oh no, we have already done that once, and that's enough.

Some Time For Something Else

This weekend was a whirlwind, and yes we did have games, and they went well. But the big news is the new trailer. It has a new paint job, thanks to the expert sanding of Jared, and the painting skills of Gordon. The kids also spent some time in the mini pool, and Jared is getting better at the guitar, and entertains us regularly. But this week we will try to do as much on the trailer as possible, and also get some great baseball games in.

Monte's Pitching Debut

Well everyone, Monte has stepped onto the mound in his pitching debut, and did surprisingly well. He really wanted to try, even though it has been traditionally in the past a George's worst nightmare. But aside from pitching, he also made some great plays at 3rd, and is getting to be very consistent at the plate. Unfortunately Sean got called to go to Canada last night, and Jared had a game out of town, so Grandma was the designated fan, and we all know how nervous she gets when she watched us pitch growing up. But congrats to Monte on his best game so far, and more to come! He may just make a great ball player after all. But speaking of good players, Jared opened his Babe Ruth season last night, and we can already tell it is going to be better than his first High School experience. He is back behind the plate again, and watching him catch for the first time this season makes me wonder what his coach was thinking all this time. He did great! And since he is getting back into the swing of things in the field, it has upped his offencive game. He hit a nice solid double (2 run RBI) into left. So congrats boys, we are looking forward to more of the same!

A Change Of Pace

This afternoon we got a nice break from the usual baseball games when Monte participated in the traditional 4th and 5th grade track meet, and as is traditional , Bellview cleaned up. Monte got 1st in the Softball throw, 5th in the high jump, 5th in the 60 yard dash, 3rd in the 400, and his relay team took 2nd. Congrats to all the Bellview kids, who took home more blue and red ribbons than the other 3 schools! Then Jared and the Grizz hit the field one last time this season, and what a way to end it. Of coarse the last game has to be against their rivals, the Pirates, and after several innings of 3 up 3 downs the Grizz took the wind out of the Pirates' sails with the winning run in the 8th inning. But don't get your hopes up to soon, Jared isn't done yet, Babe Ruth starts kicks off on Tuesday with the Grizz White team (I think?) we will keep everyone posted of the schedule.

Longest Game Ever!

I'm trying not to let all the baseball games blur together anymore, so here is the run down on this week so far. Monday the Grizz hit the field in Eagle Point, and it was a beautiful day. Cutting the lucky fro was not such a great thing to do I guess, because Jared had an OK game. The umps were terrible, and the EP fans were even worse, but the boys pulled it off in the end with a 2-3 win. Monte, and the Yankees took on the Johnke team, and Grandpa's special batting practices are paying off. Monte had nice solid hits, and in the end the Yankees finished off Johnke with 10 runs up in the 5th. And then lastly Jared was back on the field in Grants Pass this time and played a very long 3 1/2 hour game in which the Grizz 10 runned them in the 6th and again in the 7th innings, but GP wanted to keep on playing, so they did, FOREVER!!!! ( As per Sandlot.) Jared got his luck back, and had some nice hits, yay!!! Well we are in the home stretch for High School ball, but I can't speak to soon because Babe Ruth is right around the corner.

The Fro Is No Mo!

Last week was a jumble of games, and none of then were really great. The boys had a couple of good hits, and a few good catches, but baseball is a team sport, and unfortunately the teams did not do that great. Oh well, this week is going to be better, I can just feel it. The big news in our house this week is that Uncle Ty, and Sean shaved Jared's fro off. So no more fro, we have yet to see if that is good luck, or bad!

Last night Monte had a game against the Pepsi team, and yes it started out chilly, but by the 4th inning the big black clouds of doom closed in and started sleeting on us. Then it started snowing! It is April 29th for goodness sakes. The team did well despite that they could barely see the ball, and were freezing. Monte had a nice hit into right field, and the Yankees went down 6 to 9, but not without a fight. Maybe someday we will be able to sit through a sunny game, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The George Girls have been given a special assignment from Coach Hall (He said a whole clan of Grizzlies can handle it). When they were cleaning out the gym for the remodel he found years worth of old jerseys for all the sports. He would like us to sort through them and figure out a way to sell them to make some money for the Japan trip. I will let you all know when we take possession of them and we can have a sorting day! There might be some long lost treasure in there, you never know!

Game Update

I have officially lost track of games. I think that means there has been to many. Jared played the Panthers on Friday, and they pulled off a close call, but in the end won. And Monte's team is back in action on Saturday, and looked like the Yankees of the beginning of the season. They took down the Cards, 10 running them in the 4th inning. Then to finish it all up Jared's team played again Monday, Cascade Christian left their mark on the Grizzlies and it wasn't a pleasure to watch. But Jared had a great hit, and a couple of terrific catches.

More games this week, and yes it has been freezing cold every night! First Jared in the red and white pen stripe uniform hit the field Monday in Grants Pass. The Cavemen were good, but the Grizzlies prevailed in the end. We are continually amazed at Jared's skill in the outfield, he had several catches, and is getting to be a fast runner! On Tuesday Monte hit the field again, and still having the 2 best pitchers on the injury list isn't helping. The Yankees held their own, but couldn't bring the Pepsi team down. Monte is getting better every game, and is a great baseball player when he doesn't get distracted playing air guitar. You will get them next time boys. Then on Wednesday The Grizzlies battled it out with the rival Pirates again, and ended up walking the plank after a close game. Jared had 2 fabulous hits (Uncle Torr's instruction is paying off, keep up the good work!), and of course great catches in the field! We have a night off on Thursday this week, but we will be back on the field Friday with the pen striped uniforms again at South Medford.

Yesterday while we were at Monte's game it was spitting snow, and by late afternoon it was coming steadily, and this morning we woke up to it still snowing, and a light covering on the ground. We are beginning to wonder if we are cursed to watch baseball the rest of our lives in the snow.

Ash and the Grizzly

First of all an update for the games. Jared's team redeemed themselves on Friday at home against the Eagles. Jared played well, and thinks that I jinxed him with the no errors thing, because he bobbled the ball once, but recovered it well, and still got the out. On another note the Yankees lost their 2 best pitchers to injuries, so Monte's game was not so great. But he played well on third base, and his hitting is getting better each game. Jared had to be the Grizzly during opening ceremonies for the t-ball, and pony kids, and his cousin Ashlyn loved it, as you can see by the huge smile on her face.

Someday we will have something different to write about, but with 6 games every week that is all we ever do. Anyhow the run down for the last couple of days. Monte's team brought it against the Red Sox on Tuesday, and the game was called for darkness with a tie again. Another game to finish. Jared's team got 10 runned by North Medford, and we are not discussing how badly they all played, it was ugly. But Jared is at least error less for the season! The Grizz will hopefully be back on top Friday at home. And the last for the week is the Yankees again faced the Cardinals, and won 4 to 3 in 7 innings. Monte had 2 hits, and one of them was a big one to right field. Tomorrow will be a better day for the red and white, and the Yankees bring it to the field again on Saturday morning . We will let you all know how it goes.

Sun, Rain, and Snow

Monte's team played in wonderful sunny weather on Saturday, but still couldn't hold the rival Red Sox at bay. They were tied up most of the game, until the last inning. Monte had to slide at every base of course, some kids never grow up. He is hilarious to watch, that kid always makes us laugh. He has another game against the Sox today, hopefully it will be better. Go Yankees! Jared had a game last night that was miserable. It rained the entire time, and not just little rain drops, I'm talking sheets of rain, and the temperature was dropping steadily. The game was close the whole time, but when the snow started coming the umpire called the game, and it just so happened that the Comets were ahead at that moment. To bad, we will get them next time. But in the mean time we had a couple of inched of snow on the ground when we got up this morning. Is it really the middle of April? I guess it is. Play ball!

Seminary Train Gone Driver's Ed.

Heather finally got her learners permit, so now she is practicing to drive on the way to seminary in the mornings. There is not that much traffic that early, so it makes it easy for her to drive, but so far she is impressive, as someone who is almost 16 should be.

We had 2 game Wednesday. Jared's team is on a winning streak! They played South for the 2nd time and came out in front this time with a 8 to 6 win. We didn't get to watch, so we have no details, sorry. But we did get to see Monte play, and he did fabulous. He had a hit and a walk, and advanced runners both times. They played Tanner's team the Giants, and all three boys had the number 7 on their jersey's. Monte's game ended in a tie 4 to 4, and called for darkness, so it will have to be finished later. The fate of the Yankees is still undecided in their 2nd game of the season.

Pirates Are Sent Out To Sea.

Jared went 1 extra inning which made a great family home evening on Monday. The game was tight the whole time, but it just seems that the Grizzlies were more than the rival Pirates could handle in the end. Jared hit a game winning RBI, the perfect hard grounder right between 3rd and short. TJ rounded 3rd to take the lead, and that was the game. Go Grizz!!! Looking forward to Wednesday, both Jared and Monte play at home. Jared at 4:30, and Monte at 5:30.

Monte's Opening Day!

Monte had his first baseball game of the season on Saturday against the mighty Cardinals. The entire team played well, and the Yankees came out on top with a 5 to 0 win. Best Game Yet!!

Jared played at Eagle Point yesterday. It was sunny and warm and wonderful. He hit the best that he has all season so far with 2 RBIs. He also was a whiz in the field, and has grown to love the field after giving up on catching with to many guys wanting to do it also. He decided that he would rather play all the time. The game was not perfect by far for both teams, but Ashland came out on top with a 13 to 8 win. Friday he plays at home against Grants Pass. Hope to see you all there!

40 miles, WOW!!!

The boys just finished a 40 mile trek along the Rogue River trail with their scout troop on Saturday, and made it the whole way with their packs and all. Everyone said that Monte, Jared, and their friends, Tanner, and Bryce took off and left everyone else in the dust. They had rain all day the first day, but still finished their 9 mile goal for that day. Then the next day the sky cleared and so they took advantage of the break in the weather and did 15 miles (Holy Cow). The third morning they woke up to snow on the ground, and snow the rest of the day, so 3 miles only were accomplished. The last day they knew they had to get all the way out, and the weather was fair, only raining on and off, so they did the last 13 miles, and were rewarded by the spectacular view of the mouth of the Rogue River opening up to the Pacific. Wendy and I picked up a group of tired, hungry boys in Gold Beach, feed them hamburgers, and let them sleep all the way home. What a great experience! A Spring Break well spent.

Introducing the newest trailer to be inducted into the "Gorgeous Georges", the new "Queen Bee". Sean and I just brought it back from Klamath Falls, and it pulls great, even in a foot of fresh snow! We are excited to get started on the gutting and redoing. Hopefully soon we will have a finished photo for you all.
